I know just what you mean--I feel the same way about style. It's been encouraging to see how many artists expressed similar attitudes. I like the Walt Whitman quote: "I am large, I contain multitudes."Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-66967672274217229552009-12-05T13:25:27.291-08:002009-12-05T13:25:27.291-08:00Don, these are awesome!!! I always feel like I'm violating an unwritten rule when I post, the rule that says an artist must have a uniform style (to be taken seriously). But there are so many styles and all are satisfying in a different way... I just can't be limited.
Cheers!Jala Pfaffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01186623108399217523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-20010587845160613672009-12-05T00:52:00.306-08:002009-12-05T00:52:00.306-08:00Donald, it's so great to hear you say that--th...Donald, it's so great to hear you say that--thank you! I'm grateful to all the artists who have weighed in on that style discussion.

Yes, I feel much freer with the more abstract pieces to explore color, though I don't pretend to know a lot about color theory. I don't think of these as "practice" so much as just the development of a parallel body of work that is at least as important to me as the realist paintings.

I'm pleased that you see some crossover in the two styles...makes me feel less schizophrenic!Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-80335672522746042812009-12-04T10:53:13.336-08:002009-12-04T10:53:13.336-08:00These rocks rock! What about all of Hensche's color theory? And, these are your style, rocks are the west very simplified.Pam Holnbackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11569629104736368674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-19805094008014794212009-12-04T08:44:46.575-08:002009-12-04T08:44:46.575-08:00Hi Delilah--thank you.Hi Delilah--thank you.Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-41406792963501742302009-12-04T05:34:32.957-08:002009-12-04T05:34:32.957-08:00Great paintings.I love the peek at your studio.Great paintings.I love the peek at your studio.Delilahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187920776450828634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-22257929499239472712009-12-03T10:45:31.658-08:002009-12-03T10:45:31.658-08:00Pierre, thank you--that means a lot to me.Pierre, thank you--that means a lot to me.Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-74395071477707220132009-12-03T10:38:23.743-08:002009-12-03T10:38:23.743-08:00Hi Deb--thanks for that encouragement!
