The background was a challenge, because I wanted it to remain pretty indistinct yet give the feel of space and distance, as well as relate to the reflected light on the table. I found it difficult to reconcile that looser feel with the more careful rendering of the flowers.Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-58743922748476350352008-10-17T23:14:00.001-07:002008-10-17T23:14:00.001-07:00Hi Erika--thanks!Hi Erika--thanks!Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-88909519997788237682008-10-17T23:14:00.000-07:002008-10-17T23:14:00.000-07:00Weren't no trouble at all, Graham!Weren't no trouble at all, Graham!Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-34760024192852905312008-10-17T23:08:00.000-07:002008-10-17T23:08:00.000-07:00Thanks a lot, Suzanne! Thanks a lot, Suzanne!Don Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10497657029761169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-32847833224614194282008-10-17T12:39:00.000-07:002008-10-17T12:39:00.000-07:00Beautiful and inspiring. I think that blue chair gives it depth and interest and I love the verticals at the back caused by I think walls and windows. But that's it isn't it. It doesn't matter really what is providing us with useful shapes and forms. We just need to be aware when we can usefully incorporate them!Sheila Vaughanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11202418013915704272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-70344658282721865682008-10-17T09:50:00.000-07:002008-10-17T09:50:00.000-07:00What a lovely scene to capture, nice and fresh! What a lovely scene to capture, nice and fresh!Art By Erikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17076726403159256165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-34930727995848165142008-10-17T09:49:00.000-07:002008-10-17T09:49:00.000-07:00I fancy myself as a sometime grammarian, but I le...I fancy myself as a sometime grammarian, but I learned something from your comment. I was about to twist your tail for using the adjective "artful," since we often use it to mean "wily" or "cunning," as was Dickens' character "The Artful Dodger," in Oliver Twist. But the dictionary also gives the meaning as "done with artistic skill," so I am put in my place and grateful for the lovely painting and the grammar lesson!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674898426369236660.post-38826601066820244132008-10-17T07:29:00.000-07:002008-10-17T07:29:00.000-07:00Lovely piece, Don!Lovely piece, Don!Suzanne McDermotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14785042270660883635noreply@blogger.com
