The North End

Our drive the other day to the northern edge of the valley was like going back a month in time. The flatland narrows here and the mountains loom closer, so despite recent warmer weather, there was still deep snow. It was spectacularly beautiful though; a blustery day of dueling sun and shadow, with snow flurries drifting across the fields like fog. This rancher bladed out a path to feed his sheep.

There's a little town on this most wintery end of the valley, called Summerville. Go figure.

Suzanne, thank you!

Nice, I really get the sense of cold from this one. I'm planning a trip out that way in May. I hope it warms up a little before then.

This seems a bit looser than per your usual, Don (or am I a little nuts?)-- and it works great! Good values and color. Your winter stuff feels the appropriate amount of chill...

Can't wait for spring! :)

I'm sure it will be beautiful by the time of your trip, Bill. Thanks for stopping by.

Jason, you're right, this is a bit looser. It's one of those that kind of painted itself quite quickly while I stood by and watched. I wish I could make that happen more often. Thanks for your comments.

Love the clouds and feeling of cold and motion in this. Great job!
