It's the curse of the artist--you can never go "off duty." Wherever you go you're always seeing something to paint.

Tuesday afternoon Brenda and I drove over to the small town of Cove, Oregon to get takeout from the drive-in restaurant (good burgers.) As we're waiting at the window, I start noticing the beautiful sunlight and shadow patterns on this interesting house.

Cove is a lovely little town, definitely life in the slow lane. The other day I saw two girls pull up to the same drive-thru window and place their order...on horseback!

Oh, I'd love to live in Cove, Oregon, Don -- loved your story about two girls riding up to the takeout window...on horseback! Charming painting. Really captures the atmosphere! Jeanne

Nice painting, Don and a great story. I love rural places. The fast lane is not my style.

Thanks, Jeanne. We recently bought some property in Cove and are planning to build a home there. We're really excited about it.

Thanks, Mary. I know what you mean--I'm pretty slow lane myself.

I want to be the life form that lives in that house. It looks like bare feet and hot coffee. It looks like a place that the technoworld can not visit. Thank you for giving us a visage of that kind of place. ~~ Diana

It looks very homely. It's great to pop into a blog and see little snippets of what life might be like on the other side of the world.

Thanks, Triecia. I like checking in on your blog for the same reason.

Cove is a tiny town in rural NE Oregon. Not a wealthy area--lots of humble but welcoming homes like this one.

I was surprised by the yellow-warm shadows under the eaves. Perfect, of course.

Glad you came by, Susan--thanks.
