This will probably be my last post until a few days after Christmas. If the weather gods permit, we'll drive to Portland Christmas Eve and spend the holiday with all three of our children--a rarity these days. Much of the drive is on I-84 along the Columbia River gorge, which recently re-opened after closure for several days due to heavy snow and wind. Another storm system is due to come in, so...we'll see.

I think we'll make it fine. Despite my "softy" years in southern California, I am an Oregon boy, after all. I've got a four wheel drive truck, tire chains, flares, flashlights, matches, blankets, gloves etc. etc. Am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah...Brenda!...and the gifts!

May this be a wonderful holiday time for you all--Merry Christmas, Happy New Year!

Great composition. I like the mass of darks against all the snow. Looks like it's snowing all over the country! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Don.

A great thought. You must have taken lot of time in just observing them. That enthusiasm has given you the strength to create this. Well done.

Beautiful painting Don. I love how when they are done they lay (lie?) in what's left over of the hay. Have a great time in Portland. Watch out for those other drivers they are wild in Portland. Merry Christmas to you and Brenda.

Great painting, Don! And thanks for commenting on my blog the other day as well. I think "Ten Degrees" threw some of my visitors for a loop. LOL It was a lot of fun, though.
