Old Windbreak

Watercolor on paper, 10" x 9.75"
$325 plus $8 shipping in U.S.

A larger painting today. I'm always struck by how cattle endure--rain, snow or shine.

Actually, this watercolor was painted about this time a year ago. I decided to drive out to the spot today to shoot some video...and there they were--enduring:

Wow - this is a great painting.

Actually the cattle don't survive all that well without help of man. The buffalo were much hardier.

Still, I prefer hamburger.

That painting is absolutely riveting Don. That simple line of colour in the cattle and brave composition make it really special.

Thanks, Bill. Buffalo don't survive very well without the help of man either, ever since we almost made them extinct.

Sheila, I'm pleased you like it--thanks.

I love this painting! And I recognized the tall tree in the video NEAT! That's about how I can appreciate snow, from my window, in a well executed painting such as all yours, and a video lol Did you ask cattle if they really feel warmer when they stand together like that or do they all just try to imagine themselves stoking a nice fire while they melt marshmallows?

I love this painting!

We can learn something from them...how they endure cold and wind...accept without complaining. Good reminder for me today. Barb

Excellent job on the details and textures of the background. I should be painting, but here I am taking in your great work instead. Okay, back to work.

You crack me up, Erika! Now I have this picture of cows sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows. Maybe you should paint it--might be a huge hit, like the dogs playing poker. :>}

Hi Barb. Of course they pretty much have to endure, what are they gonna do--go on a hunger strike? I do notice the cows in our pasture start complaining pretty loudly if their food is late arriving. I get grouchy when I'm hungry too!

Back to work, Bri. But thanks for stopping by.

Wonderful painting Don. Very nice composition. There is just something about "cow" paintings I really like. Unfortunately not may cows around here or snow.

Hi M., thanks so much.

I've been to Dana Point quite a few times, and have to say there are some nice compensations (like the Pacific Ocean, for starters) that make up for lack of cows or snow. :>}
