When I first saw this, I immediately thought, "This is so Don Gray".

Blues and browns. I always think of your work now whenever I see that color combination.

That being said, I really love this color combination!

More please!

Good morning Don and thank you for visiting my site.

Isn't it magical to take an ordinary early spring day and may something wonderful out of it! I love this little painting.

I can't help loving your work; you handle paint so beautifully.

Now, let me work myself up to make a negative comment: even as I maintain my unconditional love of the way you paint, I wish that you would rethink such combinations of objects as the banana and the rope. Make a more decorous choice. It's nice to the viewer. Well, most of your still lifes weren't like that, though.

Well I never thought consciously about the blue/brown thing, Dean. It's just the colors one sees in the landscape here in winter and early spring. Anyway, glad you like it--thanks!

Thanks, Marcie. I enjoyed seeing your work.

Thanks, Manuel.

Of course you know I'm going to disagree with you on the "Odd Couple" still lifes I've done like "Banana and Rope." I like the fact that they are unusual combinations. Why should everything be "decorous?" I tend to equate that term with "predictable." It's good to have a little fun once in awhile with the whole idea of traditional still life.
