A slightly larger painting today. This one made me think of these lines from the Leonard Cohen song
Anthem:Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

this is especially wonderful because of that light peeking through... it's got to be warm and welcoming. r.
Beautifully painted! There is something really thought provoking about your door images - I keep looking at them and get something different each time.
Well, thank goodness for cracks then:) Now, this one is filled with mystery and tension. It makes me want to listen in to what's going on inside. Not that I'm ever the eavesdropper!
Another beautiful painting, Don.

I decided this was my favorite of the door series before I noticed the quote from Leonard Cohen (my favorite poet). The slightly open door shows us the warmly lit room that awaits us. We need so little effort to find the light. Love the video too.
Don, I just love this painting, so intriguing, simple well done!
best.

I fell in love with that little slice of light. Thank you, Rahina.
Jane, I'm very pleased to hear your reaction--thanks for letting me know.
Nancy--thank you for taking the time to write. Your sites are fascinating.
Hi Joanne--thanks for your thoughts. I just heard a great interview with Cohen by Terry Gross , of NPR's "Fresh Air" program. If you haven't heard it, it's worth hearing:

Alex, thanks for coming by. I appreciate your words.
I love the light effect here!
Very unique idea for a painting! Scary and dramatic at the same time!

Thanks a lot, Dean.
You mini-film was a beautiful prelude to this series. It's like meeting the players in person. How magical can a little light become!
As you well know, light is what it's all about, isn't it Alvin? Thanks for your thoughts.
