Sunspots

Oil on board, 5" x 7"
$125 plus $6 shipping in U.S.
SOLD

I'm still going door to door.

There are tall arched windows on three walls of the studio. They are shuttered, which allows me to control the light, but the top of the arch is not covered. When the late afternoon sun comes through the west arches it makes beautiful soft-edged patterns on the opposite wall.

I've really enjoyed your recent boulders and always love the fruits and veggies. There's just something about your doors, though, that I find particularly compelling.

door to door! (love your humor!)
Beautiful, contemplative painting. I agree completely with Martha about slowing down to look. Your work really does suspend the daily rush, and elevates those quiet corners that hold so much life and beauty.

Love the door! I can't believe the way you nailed that light.

A very kind thing to say, Martha--thanks.

I'm glad they appeal to you, Jane--thanks a lot.

Liz, I never seem to be moving very fast, so I guess it's natural my paintings would be about slowing down. Thanks for your generous thoughts.

Just beautiful. The subtle light patterns are wonderful, and transfixing. Love the element of mystery.

Damn - you are so good with the subtleness that makes a door a visual experience.

Thanks for the encouragement, Onpainting.

"I'm still going door to door". LOL

Great job on this one, Don!

Really nice sense of depth with the black from behind the door and the light cast on the door itself.

Capturing light, especially subtle effects of light is not an easy thing to do.

But you did it!
