Untitled (work in progress)

Oil on board, 23" x 23"

Work continues on new pieces in the stone series, as well as preparing completed works for display. This painting may or may not end up incorporated with other panels. There will be a large show of the series at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, opening in early June. I'll keep you updated.

I absolutely LOVE this. And it's only a work in progress! Echoes of Francis Bacon and Adrien Ghenie in the colours and application of paint. Really REALLY great stuff.

Don this is spectacular.

Wow, Caroline, thanks so much--that's pretty heady company you placed me with.

Thanks for making me familiar with Ghenie's work. Dark but powerful visions, aren't they?

Silvina, that means a lot to me--thank you!

Hi Katherine--thanks a lot.

Nice!! This is very monumental feeling and for some reason kind of sinister feeling, in an impressive way.

Solid as a rock.

Thanks for your thoughts, Jala. Maybe I channeled a little of the dark side with this one :^}

Could be a Chevy commercial, Sam. Thanks.

This seems to have as much if not more colour and authority than the other pieces in the series. I'm interested in your idea of sticking to a very narrowly defined motif and exploring the richness within that.

I love this. The paint application and colors are wonderful.

Thanks, Sheila. It's interesting to me to take one concept and "run" with it. I think narrowing the focus can lead to surprising variety and expansion of the idea.

Becky, thanks a lot. I'm enjoying your plein air work.

I don't know what it is, but it's a great bit of painting. I agree with the other comments, maybe there are new subjects waiting for you to explore using the techniques you used here.
