Open Studio Saturday!

My studio will be open to visitors this Saturday, October 9th, from 10 to 5. If you're in the area, I hope you'll stop by. The studio is on the top floor of the Union County Museum, corner of Main and Center Street in Union, Oregon. Enter on the Center Street (north) side of the building.

Three other valley artists will open their studios: Bob Jensen has a ceramic studio and gallery in La Grande, Charles Koehler is resident artist at the Union County Art and Culture Center, and glass artist Tom Dimond has a wonderful studio in Cove. The self-guided tour is free...OR... if you'd like to be chauffered around in style, sign on for the bus tour. The bus will visit all four studios, and stop off for a catered lunch at the beautiful Gilstrap Brothers Winery, in the hills overlooking the valley--all for $39. Act fast if you want to do this, though--reservations are required through Alegre Travel: 800-323-7330, 541-963-9000. For more information and directions, contact Janet Dodson at Union County Tourism: 541-963-8588. Email: janetd@eoni.com.

Here's a little video tour of the studio that I posted about a year ago:

Won't make it there, so thanks for the tour. I love my studio; I have more space than many do, but yours... oh, my! It's extraordinary. Just the right space for you and your art. Sometimes things work out perfectly.

It is a wonderful old building with very good vibes, Kristen. I feel very lucky to have this studio.

Glad you mentioned the self-guided tour is free, because the brochure makes it seem like you have to pay no matter how you tour.

See you soon, but not this weekend.

Hi Sam--it's so important to have a studio space that you love to be in, isn't it? thanks for your note.

You're right, Bri--that is unfortunate. In other advertising for the open studios the distinction is clear, but the brochure can be misleading.

Wow, what a great space, my 'studio' ie spare bedroom looks a bit like the room you were reluctant to show us!

Thanks for the video

Stephen, I've done a lot of painting in garages and spare rooms, so I know what you mean! It makes me appreciate my current space all the more.

Thanks for your note.
