Happy Thanksgiving! We're having a cold, snowy one here in eastern Oregon, with temperatures dropping well below zero lately. It may be a few days before another post, as we enjoy time with family.

Today's painting is a larger work, not a daily. This painting has been in process for over three years! I don't mean it's been worked on steadily all that time. I would paint until it seemed complete and set it aside. Weeks or months later I would decide it needed "something," and the painting would be re-worked. After our recent trip to the coast, I pulled it out for the umpteenth time and did a little glazing. Now I'm going to leave it alone. I mean it. Really.

Email me for information on purchasing an archival giclee print of this painting.

the colours are quite muted yet, the gull stands out without being overpowering. i admire this balance in your paintings as well as the compositions.

This is so beautiful Don, I look at it and I am at the beach. More stones.

Thank you, Katherine.

Hi Don just whizzing through your paintings, most of them have a basic poetic quality, seems to cause a drop in blood pressure, , god knows how you manage it with a bird on a beach, or a rock in the sun, but they are all linked by this poetic approach.Very special.

What a nice thing to say, Simon. I think that's a good description of your work, as well.
