I just re-discovered this painting today, hidden away in a folder. A couple of years ago I posted a series of paintings of the different doors in my studio. This watercolor was one of my favorites. I loved working on the painting, studying how the light and shadow crossed the old door, and the subtle gleam of the brass deadbolt.

Yesterday's snow scene was painting of the day on the blog, "Rosa's Picks.": http://rosaspicks.wordpress.com/ Thanks, Rosa!

i loved that series of doors that you did (was it two years ago... wow how time passes) and i know now why: there is a homeliness, a quiet atmosphere that you capture that says, 'it's all goign to be alright'... glad you found this one to show.

Oh boy, how I love this! Great capture of light. For that, I'll put it right up there with "Earlybird".
