Oil Painting Workshop

Photo of the studio.

Let's paint together!
I'll be teaching an oil painting workshop at my studio in Union, Oregon, on February 26th and 27th.

Times:
Saturday, Feb. 26th--9 AM to 5:30 PM
Sunday, Feb. 27th--1 PM to 5:30 PM

Experience level:

Some background with oil paint or other paint media is helpful but not required.

This workshop will explore methods and techniques for painting in oil. Students will work from still-life objects, as well as from their own reference. The class will focus on perception of what is seen and learning to render it in the most direct terms. An understanding of color, value relationships and structure will be emphasized. It will be a casual, relaxed environment; we'll have fun together while learning a thing or two.

Registration:

The Union County Art and Culture Center is handling registrations. Price is $100 for non-members, and $80 for members. Early signups receive an additional 10% discount.

Contact UCACC: phone: 541-624-2800. Email: ucartctr@eoni.com.

Outside the area?

For those outside the region who might like to consider attending, Union (population 2000) is located in the Grande Ronde Valley, in the very rural northeast corner of Oregon. This farming and ranching valley on the Oregon Trail is ringed by beautiful mountains covered with evergreen forests. If you're interested in joining us, email me and I can fill you in on details, including lodging suggestions.  Here's a link to a little video about the region: http://www.unioncountychamber.org/pages/VisitingUnionCounty/

Thanks, Rudhi. Maybe we'll go international someday! :^)

FAR too clean to be a "real" art studio! LOL!

The photo was taken a couple years ago when I cleaned it up for an open studio tour, lochinvarwelsh. If I snapped a shot today, believe me it wouldn't look like that.:^}

I've really been enjoying the old/new paint brushes series Don (I have two of your original series remember). Just watched the Union County video - what a beautiful place you live in and that sense of "natural grandeur", the size of it, just comes through so strongly. Good luck with the workshop. Wished I lived nearer!

Thanks, Sheila. Yes, of course I remember. I look at your lovely paintings on my wall daily.

Better come to the workshop...just hop a flight from England. :^}
