This is an imaginary landscape. It began as purely abstract textures and colors, laid down with charcoal pencil and acrylic paint. During the process, imagery began to suggest itself and I just went with it. There's something I like about the energy of the marks and the balance between abstraction and representation. The row of boulders relates the piece to the stone series I've been working with. The austere landscape made me think of photos I've seen of Iceland.

I love the texture in this painting Don. Hope your workshop was as great as your paintings. I also like how you scratched through the paint.

See you soon, I hope.

It's a lunar type landscape but then I think iceland must feel a bit lunar-ish. I too like very much the texture here Don. In fact, I think it could carry even more texture. That is the difficulty always - where do we stop with a painting? There is no end really.

Thanks a lot, Bri. Come by next time you're over this way.

Thanks, Sheila. It is lunaresque (is that a word)? I enjoyed trying to straddle the representational/abstract line. More texture would be a good direction to push it, you're right.
