Two new paintings and several new monotypes are posted to my contemporary blog. Monotypes are one-of-a-kind hand-pulled prints, made by painting with etching inks on glass and then transferring the image onto paper. Go have a look: http://dongraypaintings.blogspot.com.

PS: When you see the header on the blog, don't worry--your eyes aren't going bad. It's gone all fuzzy--I have no idea why.??

I went to your contemporary blog and it is like you are two different people! In the best possible way! I love your monoprints, especially. Lately I have been thinking about doing some again (I did many in the 60's during my "abstract period". I do abstracts still occasionally. What I wonder is how in the world do you accomplish so much. You have a huge and wonderful body of work!

Hi Egretta--I know, kind of like "dueling banjos" isn't it? I started as a realist painter and built my skills and reputation as such, but have also been doing this more exploratory work since the mid-80's. There has always been a readier market for the realist work and in all honesty that is part of why that style persists. But I also do enjoy doing it. The traditional work is a little "safer" in a way--I feel like I kind of know what I'm doing with it, so I can "relax" and enjoy it a bit. The other work is born out of a much less controlled process and is more exciting for me--feels more creative, really. But it can also sometimes be more frustrating.

I guess I have done a lot of work, but then I've been painting for over 40 years. Thanks for your encouraging words.
