Muraling Along

The distractions of summer continue, but I'm still managing to plod along on the mural. Work continues on the background figures. It takes as long or longer to paint a small figure as it does a larger one, so I'm hopeful that when they are completed and the foreground is begun, progress will appear to speed up. Click the images for larger views.

I'm holding off on final refinements on the portraits until most of the mural is painted in. Then I'll try to orchestrate everything together. I hope to be able to maintain at least a little bit of a painterly feel, so will try not to over-refine.

The new track lights I ordered to help even out the lighting across the mural came in, and both of them are defective...sheesh! I'm hopeful the replacements will arrive soon, and even more hopeful that they'll actually light up!

Oh, and if you notice some strange little mis-alignments in the architecture, rest assured they're not there in real life. They're the result of editing in Photoshop to try to correct some of the "fish eye" distortion of my poor photograph.

I've been off the blog for a bit and missed all this mural work! Wow Don, this is quite something! I'll be sure to check in periodically to see your progress. Looks great so far!

Hi Susan, nice to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words. I haven't been getting around to blogs as much as I should lately, either. It was great to catch up with your recent work and writings.
