Here's another painting of Winslow, done in 2010. Winslow's a real sun lover. He follows the sunlight through my tall studio windows throughout the day.
Thanks to everyone for their empathy and advice regarding my current slump. I'm really not too concerned about it, as this has happened quite a few times before in my career, usually after completing a major project or preparing for a show. I've learned to go with the flow and occupy myself with other things until that fickle muse reappears. I'm confident that fallow periods are not simply a reaction to what came before, they are also preparation for what is yet to come--an opportunity for creative growth.

I know exactly how you feel as I have also just completed a big project 48" x 144" . I find myself going from one thing to another in the studio and not being able to settle.
Fortunately I have more specific paintings to do so that will help.

I don't believe them to be slumps, but detours...your mind and body's way of saying, "It's time to take the 'scenic route' with whatever and recharge." So I say congratulations, Don! explore away!

To me, the 20x20 has such a sense of expectation about it. Perhaps anticipating the next new turn in your art?
