Artists tend to be perfectionist types, and I guess I'm no exception. As long as paintings are in my studio, they live in mortal danger of being modified--sometimes so radically that the original work is completely painted over. Other times changes are more subtle, as in adjustments made recently to this coastal painting from 2011. I shadowed down the foreground to pop the pool out more, worked a little on the pool itself, and dropped in some stronger highlights here and there to emphasize the light qualities.
