Here's a favorite little painting of mine--a fisherman tries his luck from a rocky coastal shore. This was painted in 2007, the year I began the Daily Art West blog. I think it caught something of the freshness of the day and the smell of the salt air.

Apologies to those who clicked the Clark County Open Studios Tour link in my last post and found it didn't work. My bad, I mistakenly placed a "www" in front of the link. Here's the correct one: http://ccopenstudios.org.  Please check out the site and make plans to visit some artist's studios, November 8th and 9th. I'll be doing some demonstration painting--come watch me mess up a perfectly good white surface!

Hi Don,
This wonderful painting took me down memory lane. Many years ago, I visited my parents vacationing for the winter in NW Florida.
Walking the beach with my Dad, I remember asking him to pose on some rocks near the water. My plan was to do a portrait of him from one of those photos. He's gone now, but maybe someday I'll get to it. If I do, it's because of seeing your work here. Thanks for sharing.
Sincerely,
Gary.

Hey Gary--glad this little painting triggered those warm and loving memories of your dad. I hope you'll do that painting someday, and I hope I get to see it. Be well.
