Kanab Country

Oil on board, 6" x 6"
$125.00 + $6.00 shipping in US.
Available for purchase starting 01/28/08, 12 noon PST

Since I was already rattling around the Paria River in southern Utah, I decided to drive the virtual RV a little farther north, to the small town of Kanab, Utah. There are some beautiful red-rock formations around Kanab that rival Sedona's, but today I was captivated by this unassuming little canyon, set aglow by the late afternoon sun.

What fun to take a virtual tour of the country through your paintings! Beautiful combination of colors in the foreground - really sets off the bright light in the canyon.

Hi Don,
I think I understand, but would you care to elaborate on the "virtual RV?" I enjoy your blog.

Beautiful composition! And, as always, inviting light.

Thanks a lot, Joanne. I'm having fun with it myself.

Careful, William--you'll disturb my fantasy!

Lots of folks living in cold climates take imaginary trips to warmer places--I'm just illustrating mine. My wife and I recently returned to Oregon, after 13 years of life in Arizona, and later southern California. I love the snow up here (a fresh layer this morning) but thought folks might tire of one snowy painting after another. So I set off in the "virtual RV."

Thanks for coming by.

I appreciate it, Suzanne. Am enjoying your recent "big sky" watercolors.

Don, this is my favorite of your recent Southwest landscape paintings.

Thanks, Joan--the way the weather is today I might start shopping for a real RV! A white-out blizzard going on.
