| We are having the most beautiful Indian summer; crisp, sunny mornings melting into shirtsleeve afternoons. Yesterday I drove up Catherine Creek to see the fall color.
There is such serenity in a slow moving stream reflecting an autumn sky--deep blues mingling with shimmering russets, greens and golds; sunbathed leaves of cottonwood and willow flickering in the breeze. A perfect stress reliever--something we all can use about now, right? | |

Nature and Exercise - the best medicine!
This is a beauty! Love the reflections and the composition!
This is so beautiful....a perfect stress reliever, which I can really use right now. Your colors are wonderful. I have been frustrated in portraying this subject in watercolor because when I want brighter, the values turn darker. Barb
Yes the perfect stress reliever for sure! Love the light on the water and the rock.
Hi Martha, thanks for the kind words!
Thanks, Barb. Yes, I know what you mean about the values growing darker--it can be challenging with watercolor to retain light values in bright color.
Hi Triecia, thanks for the encouragement.
You really captured the color and light of this Autumn. We went to Starkey, Granite, Sumpter and Baker in a loop and this painting perfectly captures the essence of what I saw. Lovely.
Love the sunshine, the colors, the water. Your daily art always gives me that momentary retreat from the daily routine. Thanks!

Great idea Don using the rock as a focal point to divide the frame and guide the viewer's wandering eye. Very nice use of color.. and I don't mean "grandmother" nice.
Hi Don--
This water scene is done very well. Great highlights on the water and shadows and reflections are done superbly.
Wonderful piece Don. I love the rim lighting on the rock as a focal point. Quiet, yet I can almost hear the sound of the water.
Thanks for the note, Katherine. I was just thinking of making that loop myself--it's a great trip.
HA, "grandmother nice"...that's a nice way to put it :} Thanks a lot, Bill.
Welcome to the blog, Terry. Thanks for the visit and kind words.
Deborah, good to hear from you--thanks.
A beauty.
Thanks, Mary!
