Not an odd couple, but it is an odd size today (see yesterday's post.) There's something I like about the single lemon placed in this unusually long format. I tried to create a feeling of air in the shadows. Click the image for a larger view.

This is really nice, Don. I love the interplay of blue and yellow tones and the way the shadow cuts the fruit. Beautiful!
Very nice, Don. I love the concept of the odd couple or oddity of the piece. I agree with Mark-the counterplay of the yellowness of the lemon and its compliment, blue, in the shadows. Just beautiful!
The blue violet does create the feeling of air and a nice contrast to the yellow. The format that you painted on also gives the feeling of space.
Beautiful work Don, the blue is perfect and the form of the lemon is right on Everything works, have been enjoying these still life paintings
Hello Mark and thanks, great to hear from you. I keep track of your blog and your fine paintings. I like your latest "Irish" self-portrait photo, too :>)
Thank you Anonymous.
Glad you feel it works, Becky Joy--thanks.
Hi Steve--that means a lot coming from you--thank you.
The lemon really pops against the blue/violet background. A great painting.
this one is incredible!! you are a magician with paint!
Perfect and sensual, you are brilliant with simplicity Don.
Thanks, Pam, for the visit and your thoughts.
Wow, Martha, my hat will be too small if you keep building me up like that! Won't be able to pull a rabbit out of it, either.
Pierre, you are such a terrific painter--your encouragement means a lot.
Thanks, Cathyann. It was just a sour day, wasn't it?
The lemon is just right. I like the pear as well but that lemon is special.
It looks as though everyone else is effected by the violet in your background. That was the first thing that made me sit up and take notice. Great job!
I appreciate it, Onpainting.
Thanks, Kim--good to hear from you.
