V Canyon

Oil on board, 5" x 7"
$125 plus $6 shipping in U.S.
SOLD

The ground is muddy with recent rains and snowmelt. Without warning, a sunny shirtsleeve day turns windy and brisk, the sky filled with swirling flakes. Winter is gradually giving up her grip on the land, but not without a struggle.

Don this is a beauty, once again. Is this the ranch on the road to Cove from your place with the Llamas?

Hi Katherine--many thanks. Actually, this is along the road to Sumpter, about 6 or 8 miles from Baker City. But the truth is I've used quite a bit of artistic license--changing the hills and rearranging things, so I guess the actual "spot" is more in my head. (That's a little scary, isn't it?) :>}

The story definately goes with the feeling of the painting Don.

Thanks, Mike and welcome to my blog. I sure enjoy your work. I had run across it before, and am glad to get reacquainted.

Beautiful piece. I can smell the wet soil and feel the sense of new awakening. It reminds me of walks through the pastures outside of Joseph; looking for signs of buds on trees and the smells of last years leaves. There was always a chance of a snowflake or two, but as children we didn't care, it was exploration time.
