Evening, Kahana Beach

Oil on board, 5" x 7"
$125 plus $6 shipping in U.S.

Remember those "friends" who invited you to dinner at their place and, after dessert, set up the projector and bored you with hours of slides of their last vacation? I may be their painterly equivalent for awhile with these paintings of Maui...I just can't help myself!

At least you don't have to look for the opportunity to make a polite exit; you can just close the browser window and I'll never know.

I'm looking forward to that nice slide show!

I love the colors you captured in this. Did you find it harder to paint? When I travel and paint, it really hits me that the colors I need to mix are foreign. Every place has its own light. I read that about Monet in his experiences, but it wasn't until I did it that it truly made sense.

Such relaxing colors...

I urge you to "bore" me some more!

Please, more! Ever had a relative that came over to see your slides of your vacation and wouldn't leave? I'm it. I've also got a bunch of slides of Hawaii, and they're good, but the same views painted by you are the best!

Hi Don, welcome back. Sounds like you had an exciting time! This idyllic scene reminds me of the Island of Bazaruto in the Indian Ocean where I was once privileged to attend a kind of "retreat/working holiday" (many moons ago). Look forward to seeing more of your Maui memories!

Careful about that encouragement, Susan--you may be sorry. :)

You're right about the light and color. It was definitely that unusual color quality that made me want to paint this, and it took some wrestling to find a workable color balance.

Thanks for the visit.

I thank you, Last Cup!

You're spoiling me, Sam--but that's OK. :)

Hi Sheila--thanks--good to hear from you. Wow, Bazaruto...sounds so exotic. I envy your world travels. Maui was my first trip off the mainland.

Nice to hear, Linda--thanks!

Great 'Slide Show', Don :D
Many years ago I visited Hawaii and I enjoyed every one of your painting.
Congrats on the Mural book, too!
