We had not been to the Oregon coast in a long while. Our visit this time was short but very sweet.
It's a challenge trying to capture some sense of the ocean's unceasing motion and the sunlit gleam on the water. Of course I always fall short, but it sure is fun trying.

Wonderful! Don, those balance of tones has resulted in a gleaming motion filled sea... were you trying to achieve something else??
You nailed it! The light conveys the vastness and motion beautifully.
Don, it's amazing how the square format adds so much tension to a landscape/seascape (in my humble opinion). I think this would have worked on any format but with the square it becomes particularly impressive.
I'm delighted you feel that way, Rahina...couldn't ask for more!
Marilyn, thanks so much!
My thoughts exactly, Sheila. The square format compresses the space somehow, and suggests the immensity of space beyond the borders of the picture. Thank you.
I love the reflection of the light on the water in this painting and the last one. It is beautiful!
I know I already said this but..."I feel like I am right there!" Beautiful Don.
Best,
Madison
Thanks, Kristin--I know you love to sail, so I'm delighted you feel I got the water right!
Madison, you're very kind--thanks!
Wow, lovely piece, Don; you've captured that sparkling light so well!
I sure appreciate that, Diana.
