I'm still savoring memories of our recent time at the Oregon coast. There are at least two or three larger paintings I'd like to do...more ideas than hours in the day.

Here, gulls patrol the shore on a brisk day at Cannon Beach. I really noticed this time the solitary nature of these birds. In Tillamook Bay at low tide they scattered themselves all across the mud flats--each one claiming their space about fifty feet from the next. It made me think of Greta Garbo..."I want to be alone!" Whenever I saw them bunched up, they were usually scratching and squabbling over food. These three are about as close together as they ever care to be.
