I grew up in a family that loved the outdoors. Many memorable days of my youth were spent up in the mountains camping, hiking into high lakes, fishing, etc. This enameled pot brings that all back to me. There was always a similar one sitting on a Coleman stove or balanced precariously on rocks at the edge of a campfire. When I close my eyes the aroma of camp coffee minglles with the scent of pines in the clear mountain air.

Love it - not only is the the pot so perfectly rendered, but it is a reminder of the one I use on our camping trips now, despite being a different color.

My family didn't camp but this beautiful blue pot almost (please notice the "almost") makes me wish they had!
Really wonderful composition, too.

the unique cut off interests me as it is something you have done in previous paintings. it works so well compositionally and i can almost smell that coffee;)

I connect strongly with this simple piece Don with its perfect rendering and how you cropped the subject.
Loving outdoor adventures and simple living since a very young age, this old and timeless coffee pot brings back so many good memories.

Pierre, that's so gratifying to me that this piece tapped into personal memories of your own. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Thanks, Rahina. I don't know why I like having things shoot up from the bottom edge like that, but you're right, it shows up fairly often in my work.

You're way too generous, Suzanne, but thanks! Your paintings are beautiful.

I, too, grew up in an outdoorsy family of six. One summer we ventured from Ohio to Yellowstone National Park. On a teacher's salary that meant a lot of camping with motel stays sprinkled into retain my mother sanity no doubt, lol!
Love this series, Don...it has triggered many wonderful memories, thank you.

Hi Marilyn--thanks for your great note. Those early times with family in the great outdoors leave indelible memories, don't they?

Hoping you're doing OK with the terrible fires in Texas.
