This is obviously different than the realist paintings I usually post on this blog, but if you have followed my work for awhile you probably know that I have a whole other body of work of a very different nature going all the time.
This piece is one of a recent series of aerial landscapes, based on images gleaned while virtually floating around the world with Google Earth. The forms in this series are abstracted and color is freely invented, but the underlying structure remains accurate to actual places that exist somewhere on the globe. In this case, the place is a farm in the Grande Ronde Valley of Oregon. Center pivot irrigation systems create these amazing circular patterns on the land. I guess you could say they're true "crop circles."
