I drove out west of town the other day, where there are wonderful windbreaks of big old willow trees. It was such a glowing spring day, with the golden light of the evening sun casting long shadows across the new leaves and rich green pastures. You couldn't find cows that seemed more contented, although this one seemed intent on traveling somewhere.

Today we have fresh snow on the mountaintops, and sleet squalls are moving across the valley. The sun is reasserting itself at this moment. Such is May in eastern Oregon.

Hi Don,
You had me at, ...golden light...new leaves...and rich green pastures.
Then, snow on the mountaintops and sleet squalls shocked me into reality, reminding me of why we moved!
I hope you've already sold your home, because you'll never make it as a real estate salesman!:) An award-winning poet--definitely.
Best wishes for a quick sale and wonderful new life in Portland.
Sincerely,
Gary

I think this is a lovely painting. Those trees are masterful - really -it has a kind of attractive old fashioned feel to me. Maybe you are feeling a little nostalgic for what you might soon be losing (but gaining family, so how can it be a loss). Hope all goes well for you and Brenda, Don, and that the sale and move is as painless as it can be. Your house and land look absolutely idyllic by the way. And so cheap! You would pay about twice that in the UK - maybe even more. I might be tempted if I was a few thousand miles nearer, lol.

You're hilarious, Gary! Yes, you're right--should have stopped at the green pastures part. Thanks for the well wishes and hope you're loving that laid back Hawaiian lifestyle!

Great to hear from you, Sheila, and thanks for those nice comments on the painting and good wishes for our move. Yes, if this property was in the Portland area, it would be worth far more. It's the penalty you pay for being in a pretty remote place.

I think you should buy it though, Sheila, for your second home--live the jet-setter lifestyle. I'll bequeath my old studio to you.

Now you are making it even more tempting!
