This view of Rockaway Beach was actually painted in 2010. We recently re-visited that beautiful shore and I recalled doing this painting, which is one of my personal favorites. So here it is again.

This is so "Don Gray." You paint an object, like that quirky piece of driftwood; you keep the specificity and at the same time, make a beautiful painting that is about so much more than a oddly shaped crook of wood.
This is not well-expressed but perhaps I'll try again with another painting to say what I mean.
