Above and Below Show

If you're in the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area this month please stop by my exhibit at the Above and Below Art Studio, in downtown Vancouver. Reception is Friday, Sept. 4th, 5-9 PM. I'll give a little talk (pearls of wisdom) on the following Wednesday, Sept. 9th, 7-8:30 PM.

The show runs through Sept. 24th. This is the working studio of Tom Relth, so to visit at other times call 360-561-4245.

Hope to see you at one or both events!

Hey don, best of luck with the latest show. I wish I could see it, especially if "Alluvium" is part of it! I like this idea that artists seem to be moving away from the notion that "this is what I do, this is me" and more towards - look, I enjoy painting in a number of ways - none of them "right" or "wrong" and all of them "me".

Wish I could be there ... have a daughter living on Vancouver Island ... wanting to visit that neck of the woods so bad for so long ... Greetings from Alberta, Canada ... got to you via Carlos' "I know I made you smile" ... Love, cat.

Hi Sheila--thanks for your thoughts and well-wishes. I think those of us with an experimental or explorer bent are just bound to produce very different bodies of work at different times--or even at the same time. I know you are the same way. The problem only comes with creating a cohesive or marketable public image, particularly for gallery representation. Galleries like to have a reliably recognizable "product" to represent to clients. Ah well, what are you gonna do? *:)

Thanks, Cat. The show is actually in Vancouver Washington, not Canada.

Hi Don,
Sorry I can't be there, but I hope you knock it out of the park at the show.

What a pity I missed your exhibition in Portland. I actually were in that area those days. Is there gonna be some show again soon? And where it will take part?
