We're down to hair-pulling time with our move to Oregon, so I'm afraid posts are going to be pretty sporadic for awhile. I'm excited about the move, but not too excited about MOVING...need I say more? I'll try to post every few days and be back to more regular posts in about two weeks. Thanks for hanging in there with me and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This one is lovely Don.

Don, your recent postings are really so full of light and atmosphere. I think you will miss the ocean a lot. This painting of late blooms is a particularly difficult technical subject to do - green foliage against green foliage yet you have managed to retain a freshness and a vitality. It's lovely.

Triecia, thank you. I've been enjoying the work of the other Australian artists you've been featuring on your blog lately.

Thanks for your encouraging comments, Sheila. It will be a longer trip, but I'm sure we'll be making visits to the Oregon coast as well, to get our beach "fix."

Don,

Late Blooms really pops out at you.
Great work.
As far as the move, we both know the drill going over the passes in the Blue Mts, studded tires, chains, extra blankets and good sippin' whiskey.
Good Luck.

Don...great work always..will be looking for you at the next stop!
Good luck with all the heavy lifting. Nina

Thanks, Mike, I'd almost forgotten the most important thing. The sippin' whiskey helps numb us to how incredibly dangerous those mountain passes are, right?

Hi Nina--thanks for stopping by. My son is coming to help, so whenever I can get away with it, I'll let him be the heavy lifter.

Beautiful handling of flowers in foreground with the dark mass setting them off. Kind of like a metaphor for your move no doubt! ...best of luck with it!

Candy, thanks a lot. I hadn't consciously thought about the metaphor, but I think you're right. Moving is a mixture of excitement for the future tinged with some melancholy for what we are leaving behind--the "last blooms" of a stage in our lives.

Lovely painting Don. Good luck with the move- we did it this past May- I sympathize!

Thanks for the empathy, Deborah. Ain't moving fun!?
