Fantastic maple leaf, Don. Love the colors you used for this one, and the shadows - wow!
It looks like you've been using encaustics for years, but you're one of those few artists that can move effortlessly from medium to medium, so I'm not surprised ;).
Thanks. Marilyn. Love your latest Kirby painting. Our Winslow lays back all sprawled out like that all the time. Aside from maybe a cat, can any animal look more relaxed?
So appreciated, Sonya. Your recent Moab posts have sent me to Google Earth, where I float serenely over that fantastic landscape and remember why I miss it so much.
Looks as though it just lightly sailed down to earth. Beautiful colors, beautiful pattern of light and dark. Thanks for the cold wax info. It's much appreciated.

I saw one similar to this blow about in your video and was hoping she was your next feature. Love the eggplanty umbers...more please.
: )
Perfect little piece Don, the encaustic works elegantly with the subject. Love the brushtrokes and colors!
You continue to amaze me. I think you're having way too much fun with this medium. Watch out, that much fun just might be against the law..!

Pierre, your encouragement is always heartening--thanks.
Thanks, Susan. It's true, I'm having fun with these. If that's illegal, well that's just the kind of reckless rebel I am! :^)

Beautiful painting Don! So many colors in the leaf, warm and cool. I love how you cropped the image. Very nice!

Hi Brad--thanks a lot! I like how your water taxi painting is shaping up.
Thanks, Shirley. Really I find cold wax alters oil painting technique very little, so it's easy to adapt to it quickly. Give it a try.
