Season's Greetings! You've probably about given up on me by now, but I'm back to haunt you after a very long hiatus. A lot has happened since the last post; I won't bore you with all the details, but the biggest thing is our move from northeast Oregon to Vancouver, Washington. We now live just across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. Two of our kids live in Portland, as well as our two year old grandson, so we are loving being closer.

We were fortunate to find a great home overlooking the beautiful Salmon Creek Greenway, a city-owned nature park. There are no roads across it for three miles, so it's the best of both worlds: a country feel while living right in town. I've been remodeling our large garage into a studio and am just now getting back to painting again--it feels great! This painting shows Salmon Creek a few weeks ago, when some unusually cold temperatures kept a blanket of snow on the ground for quite awhile.

I do plan to begin posting fairly often, though probably not at the "daily" frequency. Meanwhile, I hope you all enjoy the Christmas season and have a Happy New Year!

Hi Don,
Merry Christmas Eve and congratulations on completing the big move. I'm glad to see you're settled-in and painting again. Your new home sounds wonderful--almost as if it had been waiting just for you.
I've been stopping by over the past weeks and knew you'd be back eventually.
Have a very Merry Christmas tomorrow. I know it'll be extra- special, with the family so near.
May the New Year bring you continued happiness, health and perfect subject matter to work your magic on. Your post today is so good, I have goose-bumps and chills looking at it!
Welcome Back!
Sincerely,
Gary.

Hi Gary,

Merry Christmas back at you! So good to hear from you. It was nice to catch up on your blog posts. I've been pretty out of touch with the blogs--partly out of having to attend to the many details of moving and buying a new home, and partly because I felt the need to "disconnect" for awhile. Glad to see you and Michelle seem to be loving your new island lifestyle. Hope 2014 brings you joy and delight.

Don---
So happy to hear you've settled into your new digs. Sounds wonderful!
Please check my Thanksgiving post. I thank you for my bird-of-paradise, which bloomed merrily through Christmas, grew another flower spike and will now bloom again into the new year.
You continue to mentor. Thanks!
Happy new year!

Hi Sam--so good to hear from you and thank you for the kind tribute! What a lovely bird of paradise.

I feel guilty that I haven't been keeping up well with my blog friends. I completely missed knowing about your studio flood, bout with shingles, etc--my bad! I hope 2014 makes up for all this year's misfortune in spades.
