Primary Still Life

Oil on board, 7" x 8"
NFS

This is a commissioned piece, not for sale. The buyer has approved the painting, so now I can show it to you. The title comes from the primary colors in the painting.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics; we've been watching every evening. Have a great weekend.

Ah, the sacrifices we artists make, eh Erika? Thanks for your comment.

Wow, Rudhi--first time my paintings have competed in the Olympics...and I won! Thanks. :^}

Isn't that little pot cool, Dean? I've had it forever--don't even remember where I got it. It looks great with dried flowers in it (hmmm...maybe another painting.)

oohh..love this one Don! That coffee pot made me thristy LOL....gone for another cup right now..... Hey, I bought some DaVinci acrylics to try first. Have been delving into your old posts to see how to work with them. Have started a horse painting for fun and it isn't turning out TOO bad LOL Has been 32 years so these aren't "your Grandma's paints" any more..how wonderful to have a nice creamy texture! The old stuff was like painting with liquid rubber!If I think it is decent enough upon completeion I MIGHT have the nerve to throw it on my Blog! lol

Love the closed interaction between elements and the colors too, dynamic!

Hi Micah-- I'd like to try Da Vinci acrylics--I've heard good things. Do they make a slow-drying acrylic like the Golden Open? Yes you're right, acrylics handle much nicer than in the olden days.

Good luck with the painting and thanks for the kind words.

Hello Pierre--thanks a lot, my friend.

A strong primary scheme is refreshing!

While I think curling is a really cool pastime (I'd join the local club if my knees would cooperate!), it is astounding that they are covering ALL of it!!!

Well Don, they dry pretty darn fast lol..I did not purchase a gel medium, might do that today on a quick run to the store. Need to let you know we plagerized one of your rock oil paintings in our lesson yesterday :) No need to fret though, they ended up looking more like a slice of cheese (according to my student Eli lol) We did one of the red, yellow, and blue composition ones. So far I'd have to say the DaVinci's handle like a really good cross of oil/watercolour , leaning more towards the watercolour end. Got a few Liqutex to try and they are still of the rubbery (not severely so) quality, and I do not like that.

Thanks, Kaylyn. What's astounding to me is that they have a curling club in Lawrence, Kansas! :^}

Hi Micah--rocks, cheese...what's the difference? :^}
