Spring has sprung! Or at least the beginnings of it. There's nothing like those early greens; later in the summer they gray out more and lose intensity. I drove to Walla Walla on Wednesday. It's only about 70 miles away as the crow flies, but weeks ahead of our valley seasonally. Wheat fields are up and growing strong, the trees are leafed out and flowering, bees are abuzz. Patience--we'll get there.

Fresh Green. Its the perfect title. I clicked to come visit because the greens of spring grabbed me! Isn't it wonderful how those greens get so lush, even before the leaves really pop.

It seems spring is arriving for us at the same moment...

Zing! This little painting has an impact much greater than its dimensions!

Agree with Susan...that brief time between the thaw and the fully leafed out spring is wonderful. The trees outside my studio window went from tiny leaf buds to full leaf literally overnight a few days ago. The lighting is greatly affected!

Thanks, Kaylyn! Spring always astonishes, doesn't it? It is long awaited, and when it finally arrives it seems to happen overnight.

Such wonderful shadows, Don!

You could totally tell this was done during the late morning/early afternoon just from the dramatic lighting.

Great job here!
